How to Open an Outbound Call Center

Call centers are a very useful thing in the business world today. Many businesses use them for marketing, customer service, courtesy calls and appointment reminders among other things. If you want to open your own outbound call center there are a number of steps you need to take and regulations with which you must comply. Read on for a discussion of some of these steps.

  1. First: Do not call

You must comply with the national Do Not Call list; this restricts whom you can call to offer services. Additionally, there are federal regulations that limit what times you can call, what you can say and how long the call can last. Many states and cities have their own laws regarding outbound calling; find one of the many software programs available or hire a lawyer to help you navigate through the endless stream of red tape.

  2. Second: How to market yourself

Look for a number of books on marketing and study them carefully. If there are classes and seminars, take advantage of them, especially if they are free. It takes hard work to market your business successfully; the more you know about how to advertise yourself, the more success you are sure to have.

  3. Third: Find equipment

It goes without saying that your outbound calling center is going to need equipment to operate. Comparison shopping online is a great way to find the best prices on telephone equipment. In addition, remember to get a separate phone line just for the call center; never use your home phone.
